Includes personal correspondence and correspondence relating to his work for the West Coast Lumbermen's Association (1937-1957), Keep Washington Green (1940-1960), and his work with the Seattle, King County and Washington and Northern Idaho Council of Churches (1954-1959). Correspondents include: Doubleday, Doran and Company, Marshall William Fishwick, Stewart Hall Holbrook (1939-1962), Alfred and Blanch Knopf (1924-1966), H.L. Mencken (1923-1928), Jim Tully, and numerous forestry and lumbering associations and lumber mills. Also includes some Paul Bunyan manuscripts and notes, as well as manuscripts for Davy Crockett and John Henry stories, among other writings and speeches. Ralph Chaplin material includes 1 original typescript poem (not signed but with annotations), by Chaplin, entitled, For One Unforgotten, 1958 Dec 11 (l page, 12 lines).
